Hi everybody,
My name is Yfke Donders and since the beginning of August I am the intern of the Bakery department of Albert Heijn. Currently I am studying the master Management, Economics and consumer studies at the University of Wageningen. In my free time I love to play hockey, spend time with friends, and I am a big fan of cooking and baking.
In which department are you working during your internship?
In my opinion, I am working in the best department of Albert Heijn, where you as an intern, have to organize a lot of quality based tasting sessions for bread, fresh pastry and other patisserie products. Besides that, I have several other tasks which I complete every week. For example, reviewing product proposals from suppliers and also keeping in contact with them. I also answer ad hoc questions related to developments within the bakery team as well as making internal and external economic analyses. What I think is most exciting so far is that I learn so much in practice. Every day I learn something new, but I am also applying obtained knowledge from my study into practice.

Why did you choose Ahold Delhaize?
When I saw the vacancy of the matching day for a Merchandising & Sourcing Intern position, I immediately became enthusiastic. Moreover, working for a company as Albert Heijn is extremely varied. The reason for this, is the dynamic work field which makes that your work day is never the same. There is a really informal working atmosphere at the headquarters of Albert Heijn where you can really be yourself and where you get a lot of freedom as an intern to take your own decisions and responsibility. I still have a few months to go in which I am focusing on new product development as well as on my own research project. Moreover, Christmas is a really important and busy period for the bakery department. Therefore, I am very excited for what the next upcoming months will bring.
