Leestijd: 2 minuten

Name: Odilia van Wassenaer

Current Role: Account Manager

How long have you been at P&G for: 7 months internship, 1 month account management

If you had to describe what working at P&G is like in three words what would they be? Ambition, fun, energy

Why did you apply to P&G? After my bachelor in Business Administration I was unsure what to choose as a master’s degree. At that time I was considering marketing, hence I applied to P&G to do an internship. This would enable me to get to know marketing, and the bigger picture of FMCG. During the interviews however, P&G mentioned that Sales would suit me much better, and they were definitely right!

What do you do in your role on a day to day basis? In order to do great business with my clients, I am in contact with them on a daily basis to find synergies between our business goals and align strategies in their stores accordingly.

What has your training and development been like during your time with P&G? I have never learnt so much in so little time during my internship in the e-commerce team of Sales. My manager continuously provided me with feedback on my work, and trained me to “always keep the engine running”, meaning never to be satisfied with the status quo, even if that is already fantastic. In my new role as Account Manager, I receive a lot of interesting trainings ranging from objection handling to storytelling. They do not only come handy with business purposes, I successfully applied it in discussions with friends as well!

How is the work environment/culture at P&G? The people working at P&G are bright and driven by ambition, full of energy, but also always open for good fun. I really enjoy to be at the office.

How have you been challenged at P&G? Yes! As said, my manager during my internship trained me to always aim for more. Whenever something was finished, he challenged me to improve it or to add something extraordinary to it.

What advice would you give to somebody considering applying to P&G? Talk to the people that work here. That is the best way to see how fun and bright they are, and also to find out what different positions entail. Marketing at P&G is very different from marketing at a supermarket, and Sales at P&G is not comparable to sales in a shop!
