Hi there,
My name is Anna Morsink and I am working as an HR intern at Ahold Delhaize. The past three years I have studied Psychology at Leiden University. Last fall semester, I had the opportunity to study abroad in the United States. I lived in Ashland, Virginia for 5 months where I broadened my international horizon while meeting new friends and gaining knowledge about the particular field I am interested in, organizational psychology. After I came back, I had half a year left before I would start my masters. Therefore, I started orienting about different options to figure out what I wanted to do and I came to the decision that I wanted to apply my gained theoretical knowledge in the work field. This would lead to insights about how to function in the professional work field and handle the challenges it brings along.

As an HR intern, I am part of the Career Center in the team of Young Professionals which is mainly focused on hiring new interns for the next semester. Together with my colleague I am responsible for the Matching Days. We organize these days to create a platform where motivated students get the chance to meet employees from Ahold Delhaize within the field that they are interested in. Organizing these days comes along with different tasks, such as giving presentations to inform motivated students, do intake conversation to get to know the interns, and match them with employees from Ahold Delhaize to give them the internship that fits the best. Besides the internships, I also focus on the traineeships we offer. Together with colleagues, we are present at recruitment events to inform students about the opportunities students get by applying for an internship at Ahold Delhaize.

Despite the fact I am working at Ahold Delhaize for one month yet, I have already learned so much. Not only my professional career, but also my personal development is seen as important at Ahold Delhaize. From the very first day, I already had a lot of responsibilities which made me feel valuable for the team and organization. Besides the responsibility, I am free to explore and discover more about the direction of my future career path. For example, they encourage me to also take a look insight other department to create a better perspective about where I see myself in the future. My colleagues guide me through my internship by having conversations about where I stand and what I want to achieve during my internship. Besides the provided help, the open and ambitious work environment at Ahold Delhaize also contribute to work hard while enjoying my time here. All in all, I would definitely recommend joining Ahold Delhaize as an intern. At Ahold Delhaize you are free to discover, learn and enjoy!
