Hi my name is Luka Zijp, 25 years old and living in Alkmaar. Currently, I am in my final year of the study Creative Business at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Here I will be trained to become an all-round media professional of today and tomorrow.
During my previous internship I discovered the world of online advertising. I find the diversity and continuous developments in online marketing extremely fascinating. Therefore, it was not a difficult choice for me to follow the minor Digital Marketing Tomorrow. During this minor I was able to combine my work at my previous internship and remain active in online marketing.
In which department are you working during your internship?
In my final year, I have the opportunity to do an internship. Since I have always enjoyed working in retail, including Albert Heijn, I was extremely curious how a market leader such as Gall&Gall served the online market. I also liked to buy online from Gall&Gall, because I thought the site was easy to work with and there was a lot of informative content about drinks. When I saw a vacancy open for the position of ‘intern online marketing’, I applied immediately.
Gall’s marketing team is very open. As an intern you are involved in everything. You immediately get a lot of responsibility and trust from the supervisors. I am currently working on setting up Gall&Gall campaigns on the social media channels Facebook and Instagram. I already had some experience with this, but the way it is set up in a large company such as Gall&Gall took me some time to get used to. For example, you work with premium tools that smaller companies do not use. The best thing I have learned so far, is setting up campaigns in which you bring the customer in contact with Gall&Gall products within various phases of the customer journey. In addition to social media advertising, I am also involved in the affiliate marketing of Gall&Gall.

Why did you choose Gall&Gall (one of our local brands)?
The way of learning at Gall&Gall appeals to me; I get space to develop myself by working on tasks independently. If there are any questions, I can always contact my internship supervisor Jan-Willem den Dunnen. What surprised me most during my internship is the impact that Gall&Gall’s online expressions have. It is nice to see that certain advertisements get a lot of reactions online.
