Hi there!
My name is Ottelien Mol and I am currently working as a recruitment intern at Ahold Delhaize. I am studying at the Hotel Management School in Maastricht where I am currently in my fourth and final year. As the final part of my studies, I have the opportunity to work as an intern in order to explore and learn more about my interests for my future path and career. As I am interested in developing myself in the world of Human Resources Management, I choose for an internship in this particular field. The reason that I choose for Ahold Delhaize as my internship company is because of the size of the big retail firm. Therefore, I thought I would learn most as an intern in a big company instead of in a small start-up, because of all the complexity and thoughtful processes that a big company brings along. Besides, I suspected a big company to have more opportunities for interns as they have students working there regularly. Well, I was not wrong!
In which department am I working in during my internship?
Over the last 2 months that I have been working here, I have had the chance to work on my own tasks with a lot of responsibilities. Moreover, I am, together with my fellow co-worker, in charge of recruiting all students who will start their internship at Ahold Delhaize in February 2022. I am doing intake conversations with students to find out where their interests lay, and organize the matching days where students will talk with different department to see if there is a match. Therefore, I have the opportunity to help others and make people happy when they find a suitable internship.

The work environment at Ahold Delhaize and in my team is really informal where everyone has a young and pro-active attitude. Moreover, I can share my ideas and everyone takes my opinion seriously. The guidance provided during my internship is really personal so I can make the most of my internship and learn as much as possible in this short period of time. Meaning, I have the opportunity to work on extra projects for instance or I can take a look insight different departments.
